Learning for All

Evidence of changes in practice (and attitudes)

At the end of the community of practice participants were asked: “What kind of changes (big or little) did you observe for students with significant disabilities (and the adults who support them) in your district over the course of this school year?”

Below is a sampling of the changes in practices (and attitudes) that participants reported.

Transition planning

  • More focus on supporting transitions within the school
  • Increased coordination with People with Developmental Disabilities (PDD)
  • Sharing successful strategies for work experience (e.g., sensory, communication, use of visuals)
  • Communication is more open and ongoing throughout the year to monitor where we’ve been, where we are, and where we are going
